More hand dyed babies & earrings

Hiya,

How has your week been?

Mine’s been great. Busy dyeing as usual (I like saying this, it sounds funny if you don’t know the context that i dye yarn!) 😀 But this week I also spent quite some time making mini yarn ball earrings to stock up in my Etsy shop and for up-coming craft fairs in summer and autumn. I know spring is not actually official here yet in Scotland but soon ?!

Yesterday was a kickoff of MarledmagicMKAL I have joined. It’s a 4-week knit along (KAL)hosted by the knitwear designer Stephen West. So i received my first clue and started  knitting a few rows already. Since we can go wild with the yarn choices, I decided to throw in some of my hand dyed yarn in the pack as well 🙂

What do you think of these beauties?

Now the needles are calling me. I’d better sign off to continue on my rows.

Happy Knitting and Crocheting!

Ok, after hours of talking to (myself) the camera, I decided I didn’t like the way I sounded !

So I came up with a way I could show off my first knitted hat within seconds and without having to say a thing to bore you..ha..ha..

In the future, if you like to see what I have created, made, tried, and failed, you can also subscribe to my channel  here

See you on the flip side 🙂

I can’t stop dyeing!

No one has ever told me that once you start dyeing yarns, you just cant’t stop! It’s just like paintings on blank canvases and it’s even more amazing when you actually knit them and see how stitches turn out.

This new colourway i dyed up this week is call “Mystery ” I bet you can tell why it’s named that way. When a knitter/crocheter choose her/his yarn, the choice is just endless 🙂

I am excited to see how this yarn journey will take me. In the meantime, I still make mini yarn ball earrings . I will keep making them as well as diving into this yarn dyeing world.

Oh and good news! I almost finished with my first epic knitted shawl 🙂 More photos are posted on my Instagram if you’d like to see.

Went to the Moon and Back

Hiya,

It’s never too late to say Happy New Year, everyone ! Like the title suggests, I went to the moon and now back 😀

For the past few months, I have travelled, visited families, seen new places and cultures.

Can you guess where I have been from these photos?

2016-11-14-16-11-252016-09-29-13-35-472017-01-06-12-32-452016-11-26-11-03-55

But now I am back to my yarn and craft world and it feels good to be back.

It feels good to be able to paint and dye (yarns) again. 🙂

Alpaca Love

This week I have been dyeing this new yarn base of 100% baby alpaca and I am so in love with how soft this fibre is. My first encounter with these lovely creatures was at YarnDale in Skipton last year. They were quite playful and didn’t mind human’s company.

Here they were smiling and enjoying having their photos taken 🙂

I have read some forum threads that discussed dyeing with alpaca yarn and fleece and a few mentioned that it didn’t take the dyes in as well as merino. But to my surprise, I dyed these two colourways and they turned out quite right, just the way I wanted 🙂

On the left is “Enchanted Garden” and on the right is “Alpaca’s Kisses”

I have set aside a few skeins to knit a project for myself this autumn (who can resist!?)and have listed a few in my shop www.handdrawnyarn.etsy.com as well.

Have you ever knitted/crocheted/worked with alpaca yarns? If so, what are your favorite projects and patterns? I have in mind that this yarn would be perfect for a shawl 🙂

I am heading to Revelry to check out some lovely shared patterns/projects now so i can get some ideas.

xoxo

I am planing to vlog or at least make a video tutorial of my yarn dyeing on my YouTube channel later this year, so subscribe and stay tuned ! 😉

DIY Felted Soap

DIY crafts, Felt making, wet felting

I have been having fun making felted soap to give out as a gift for friends and family . It’s a good gift idea and very easy to make. Click on the video to see how a bar of soap and a piece of wool roving can turn into a natural exfoliating wonder. 🙂

Have fun felting!
